A letter from the Kindergarten teachers for incoming students:
Welcome Parents and Kindergarten Students,
We are looking forward to working with you and your child for the 2009-2010 school year. The following is a list of skills that will help your child have an easier transition to formal learning in kindergarten. Your child should be able to…
- pack and unpack school bag
- use the bathroom independently
- open and close buttons and zippers
- color within the lines
- tie their shoelaces
Challenge work for the students to practice over the summer:
- learn how to spell and write their first name
- learn the lowercase letters of the alphabet
Here is the list of supplies your child will need to bring the first week of school. All supplies should have your child’s name on them.
- 4 hard cover notebooks,
- 1 pack of pencils,
- 1 box of Crayola crayons,
- 4 hard plastic folders with pockets,
- 2 large boxes of tissue,
- 1 roll of paper towel,
- 1 bottle of Elmer’s glue,
- 5 glue sticks,
- 1 pack of colored construction paper 9X12
- 1 pack of Staples computer paper.
- A complete change of clothing labeled your child’s name and a recent photograph of your child.
Our school community looks forward to seeing and working with you and your child.
Sincerely,
The Kindergarten Teachers
